STOP PRESS: ……….IRELAND AND U.K. TOUR, NOVEMBER 2nd – 19th………     FULL DETAILS ON ‘LIVE NEWS’ PAGE

(Sydney – May 20th)

Hi folks,

Well, how quickly a year goes by! Only 12 months ago, I was singing Paul McCartney’s “When I’m Sixty Four”, and tomorrow….

I’ve been thinking how much I’m behind the 8 ball (or lazy, as they say) this year, and although I’ve been busy, and some of you may have seen me recently performing various shows across Australia, even in Papua New Guinea (would you believe!), and other places, I’ve got to finish up my new set of recordings, and turn that into a new album (amongst other things). I have all the songs, but I’m being very perfectionist about the recording, so…

After my big birthday tomorrow, I’m very excited about an upcoming concert in Chengdu, China. It’ll be the first time I’ve performed on the mainland, and it’s a big event. It’s the Night of Fortune Grammy Superstars Concert in Chengdu. It’s the closing party for the 2013 Fortune Global Forum, and the lineup includes  Jody Watley, Shawn Colvin, Richard Marx, Yolanda Adams, Patti Austin, Diane Schuur, Michael Bolton, and me. Chinese artists including Lang Lang will also be performing. It really looks like fun! Also see: “http://www.chinamusicradar.com/asian-news/grammys-in-chengdu/”

I’m currently getting myself fit and losing pounds (or kilos if you like) in preparation for a UK tour in November. I think one or two dates have already hit the press, but really they’ve jumped the gun a bit. As soon as I have all the dates I’ll post ‘em up on the ‘live news’ page, of course. We will also be playing Dublin and one other Irish date, but unfortunately the proposed European dates will not now be happening, well, not this year anyway. But it’ll be great to see all my UK fans again, I can’t wait.

That’s about it for now. Gotta make up my birthday present wish list. Don’t worry it’s only virtual! I’m loving being my age and still feeling so young and energised, and the voice is still as strong as ever too. But mainly I’m thankful to all of you, you make an old man feel very, very happy, and I thank you for sticking by me, still listening to, and enjoying my music, and being patient with me.

So…. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!! Okay, that’s enough, Leo…

——————————————————————

This is the new look ‘leo sayer.com’ – the official website and home of all things “leo”, so if it’s your first visit, here’s a few guidelines.

I think a website is like a virtual “world”, an entirely new home, an exhibition in the ether, and a different (and maybe fresh) way of looking at a life or career – well anyway, that’s the theory behind ‘leo’s room”.

Run your mouse or curser across the home page and you’ll see you can instantly locate various categories of the site by clicking and selecting highlighted images or icons.

These categories are also listed on top of the room, and here’s more on them:

News. You’ll find up to the moment news of my activities and my latest message to you on the news page.

Messages. The message page works much like before – here I invite you to send me a message, ask me questions, or create a forum or topic for discussion. Please keep your posts limited to one person per posting name. It’s not intended as a conversation page between friends – it’s a discussion group, so please when replying to a post, stick to the discussion topics. The site is monitored by the website facilitators (not only me) and we will remove multi posters who use more than one log in name, and all those who profess or pretend, incorrectly, to be the site moderators. Furthermore, we will not tolerate rudeness, offensive language, insults or bad manners, so if you want your message to be shown, you must adhere to these rules.

I will endeavour to reply to as many of your questions as frequently as I can.

Live news. This now has it’s own section too – with details of upcoming concerts and appearances.

Audio player. Here you can listen to tracks on the media player. This features a personal selection various tracks from the archives or recent live material, which will be updated from time to time.

Biography (The Story So Far). This has been carried over from the last edition of the site, and has the entire story of my life and career, with accompanying pictures.

Discography. It’s all new and details the hits and chart positions of my albums and singles in the U.K., the U.S.A., and Australia, also the territories they were released in.

Lyrics. Some of you may remember these pages from before, so I’ve brought ‘em back and brought them up to date – all the lyrics of every album and single track released are shown here.

Photographs. Here’s a new style gallery in an easily navigable format. It’s split into two categories: My career, and Recent Activities. I’ll be up dating these with new pics galleries from time to time.

Press Articles. I’ve been collecting these for some time, so I thought it’d be cool to share some of these with you. They run all the way from 1972 to the present day, telling my story from various other perspectives.

Store. Coming soon… Here there’ll be a chance to purchase merchandise like T-shirts, caps and other ‘leo’ branded items, and buy CD’s and DVD’s. We’ll supply and ship internationally from this site, so look out for this to be up and running soon.

Links. Here you can find other points of contact, for professional enquiries, bookings and such like. Also here are some of my favourite sites to visit, and the home sites of many of my favourite musicians and work colleagues.

I do hope you all enjoy the new pages and generally have fun with the material here.

“leosayer.com” has a truly international fan base, so I hope that the content here applies to all of you.

I can only apologise that if some of my releases are unknown to you, this is because they have not been made available worldwide. It’s just the way this business is, I’m afraid. Some territories don’t agree in taste with the other ones, but thanks to the web, the world is getting smaller and most of my releases can be found on the internet or by downloading, which I think is great.

Okay, that’s about it for now.  Keep watching this page for further developments ‘cos the ‘Show” is definitely still going on.

All the best….

Hello from a very blustery Isle of Man Leo… As much as I love my little rock here in the middle of the Irish Sea, a part of me is extremely envious of your choice to settle in Australia. I’d have done the same thing myself 30 years ago had I had the opportunity and better health. It must be great NOT to have to deal with the British media anymore – or at least the gutterish side of it! I’m guessing you’re too busy to read all these comments personally, but I wonder if anyone can advise me how/where I can buy a copy of the CD album “Don’t Wait Until Tomorrow”. I understand it was only ever released in Australia? I’ve looked on iTunes, Amazon and elsewhere, but sadly without any luck. I notice there’s plans to make music available through an online store here. Will the CD be available from that? Anyway stay healthy and carry my very best wishes with you always. Kindest regards, Andy.

Hi Leo. My friend, Frank, and I were visiting the Melbourne Zoo the afternoon of your Twilight Concert in February. We heard your music as we walked around and thought it was just a recording to promote your concert that night. We were blown away when we saw you and your band actually rehearsing so we sat ourselves down and had the most wonderful time listening and taking a trip down memory lane with you. We were so disappointed we couldn’t stay for your concert but I went out and bought your CD a soon as I got home! We live in beautiful Queensland and were visiting Melbourne for the first time and I have to say the brief moments watching you rehearse those great songs were the highlights of our trip. Could you please let me know if you are performing around south-east Queensland in the near future … we will be there for sure! Frank is the owner of the most beautiful gardens (many people say the most beautiful in Australia) called the Maleny Botanic Gardens. Maleny is a town situated in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. If you are ever in the area, you are most welcome to soak up the beauty of the gardens as Frank’s guest. You can take a look at what I mean about breathtakingly beautiful by checking out his website MALENYBOTANICGARDENS.COM I have been trying for ages to find a way to contact you and by chance came across this website. You can still belt out a hell of a good song, Leo! Thank you and all the best. Kind regards,
    Jennifer

Hello Leo. Just the other day I heard Thunder in my heart on the radio and I really had forgotten what a great upbeat song it is. Then I started thinking about all the Leo Sayer songs I grew up with. I just kept coming up with this long list of great songs that still stand up well today. At some point down the track, people will realise what a truly talented and authentic artist you are and what a fantastic body of work you have created. Here’s to you Leo. See you in Newcastle (Australia) some time.

I’ve heard about you releasing some new stuff this year for a while now and I JUST read your latest post with you saying “I’ve been busy in my studio over the winter, and plan to release some new work soon. No firm release date yet, but watch this space…”- You don’t understand how excited this has made me to know it’s true! I’m actually listening to your music as I type this. You also said about some new tours for England and I would LOVE to see you when you come, so I’m going to start saving and keep and eye out. You have one of my favourite voices of all time and I have always loved your AMAZING falsetto. It makes me happy that you read these and I just want to let you know how excited and how happy i am that you’re making music again. You’ve always made such amazing music and your last album is my favourite! You’re a real legend, Leo :)

    Hi Leo.
I am 32 years old…knew of your music but not really much about you until my husband (he’s 46) has made me into a (fanatic!) fan! Long Tall Glasses is now my favourite song ever!
We will be at Mundaring to see you live in February and it will be our 7th wedding anniversary…would love it if you could give us a shout out as, like you, I have been in Australia 8 years and officially become an Aussie this weekend at my citizenship ceremony!
Thank you for your feel-good music and amazing voice.

  30. Loo says:

Hi Leo, I have been a lifelong fan and have recently been debating the date of one of your concerts long ago, which we both loved. It was in Bridlington in, we think, 1974. Could you solve this for us? Love and light, Loo xx

I have to say…I really loved your performance of “You make me feel like Dancing” with the Wiggles…that was great ! you seem like a really nice person and you love what you do, that performance with the Wiggles always puts a smile on my face.

  33. Carol "cc" Hanson says:

You will never remember me, but I remember you so very well. You used to come into my photo shop-rental darkroom-film processing retail store on Westwood Blvd in late 70’s and early 80’s. I printed a 16×20 of you and your rat and you graciously autographed a copy of it for me. I’ve used you as a reference many times about celebrities who are just plain down to earth nice people. I loved your music, and told you often, but you always treated me as equal. Your sweetness and friendliness has obviously carried you a long way. Glad to see that you are still playing music, just sorry you don’t perform in the U.S. thanks from Artcraft 1900 Westwood Blvd., the building that had a film strip painted around the corner of the building.
