Leo Sayer - Leo's Room The Official Site

Welcome to LeoSayer.com

(Sydney, May 3rd, 2012)

Hi everybody,

I hope you are all well and happy.

Well, after a relatively quiet start to 2012, which was very welcome after such a busy schedule last year, I’m now getting back to work, and I must say I’m really glad to announce some international dates, for a change…

I’ve already been on the road downunder however… In March the Australian band and I kicked off this year’s live activities with a one off show in Tumut, near Wagga Wagga in New South Wales, followed by a four date mini tour of Western Australia, taking in performances in Albany, Bunbury, Mundaring Weir (in the hills above Perth) and Mandurah. That went great, with full houses and a great reception from fans in WA. The region is truly beautiful to visit as well, windswept beaches, amazing forests and clean unpolluted skies, and it’s a real treat to be working (and to be so popular) in such a place.

Next week I’m really excited to be making a return to Seoul, South Korea for a second time. We are playing two concerts in the city at the very impressive Sejong Centre, me and the Australian band onstage with Bonny Tyler and The Manhattans as well. Seoul is such an exciting place to visit and perform, so it should be fun!

Then I’m off to Europe in June, visiting Italy and the U.K., and I’m also playing a concert in Dublin, at The Olympia – that’s on July 5th. I can’t wait to have a celebratory pint of Guinness while I’m there! On that show I’ll be accompanied by my U.K. band, and it’ll be nice to see them again.

So, I invite you all to keep an eye on the ‘live news’ page, ‘cos there’s more dates a comin’… We are just putting the finishing touches on our Australian itinerary for later in the year, and this should include some coastal dates in Queensland and New South Wales, more news on that soon …

Then, in November I’m back in the U.K. again for my second ‘Once In A Lifetime’ Arena tour. Last time that was in the company of The Osmonds, Bay City Rollers, and David Essex. This time it’ll be me, David Cassidy, Hot Chocolate and Smokie on the bill. It’s going to be a blast, and being a bit of a showman, I always enjoy playing those big venues – my natural habitat! See the full dates (and ticket booking details) on my ‘Live News’ page.

So, with a few more activities to be locked in at home and abroad, it’s looking like it’s going to be an exciting year. After Seoul, I’m off to Darwin for my birthday (May 21st), and must say I’m feeling good and fit, and nothing like 64…..!

Okay folks, stay tuned, stay well, and thanks for all your messages.

All the best to you all – my very dear fans and followers…

——————————————————————

This is the new look ‘leo sayer.com’ – the official website and home of all things “leo”, so if it’s your first visit, here’s a few guidelines.

I think a website is like a virtual “world”, an entirely new home, an exhibition in the ether, and a different (and maybe fresh) way of looking at a life or career – well anyway, that’s the theory behind ‘leo’s room”.

Run your mouse or curser across the home page and you’ll see you can instantly locate various categories of the site by clicking and selecting highlighted images or icons.

These categories are also listed on top of the room, and here’s more on them:

News. You’ll find up to the moment news of my activities and my latest message to you on the news page.

Messages. The message page works much like before – here I invite you to send me a message, ask me questions, or create a forum or topic for discussion. Please keep your posts limited to one person per posting name. It’s not intended as a conversation page between friends – it’s a discussion group, so please when replying to a post, stick to the discussion topics. The site is monitored by the website facilitators (not only me) and we will remove multi posters who use more than one log in name, and all those who profess or pretend, incorrectly, to be the site moderators. Furthermore, we will not tolerate rudeness, offensive language, insults or bad manners, so if you want your message to be shown, you must adhere to these rules.

I will endeavour to reply to as many of your questions as frequently as I can.

Live news. This now has it’s own section too – with details of upcoming concerts and appearances.

Audio player. Here you can listen to tracks on the media player. This features a personal selection various tracks from the archives or recent live material, which will be updated from time to time.

Biography (The Story So Far). This has been carried over from the last edition of the site, and has the entire story of my life and career, with accompanying pictures.

Discography. It’s all new and details the hits and chart positions of my albums and singles in the U.K., the U.S.A., and Australia, also the territories they were released in.

Lyrics. Some of you may remember these pages from before, so I’ve brought ‘em back and brought them up to date – all the lyrics of every album and single track released are shown here.

Photographs. Here’s a new style gallery in an easily navigable format. It’s split into two categories: My career, and Recent Activities. I’ll be up dating these with new pics galleries from time to time.

Press Articles. I’ve been collecting these for some time, so I thought it’d be cool to share some of these with you. They run all the way from 1972 to the present day, telling my story from various other perspectives.

Store. Coming soon… Here there’ll be a chance to purchase merchandise like T-shirts, caps and other ‘leo’ branded items, and buy CD’s and DVD’s. We’ll supply and ship internationally from this site, so look out for this to be up and running soon.

Links. Here you can find other points of contact, for professional enquiries, bookings and such like. Also here are some of my favourite sites to visit, and the home sites of many of my favourite musicians and work colleagues.

I do hope you all enjoy the new pages and generally have fun with the material here.

“leosayer.com” has a truly international fan base, so I hope that the content here applies to all of you.

I can only apologise that if some of my releases are unknown to you, this is because they have not been made available worldwide. It’s just the way this business is, I’m afraid. Some territories don’t agree in taste with the other ones, but thanks to the web, the world is getting smaller and most of my releases can be found on the internet or by downloading, which I think is great.

Okay, that’s about it for now.  Keep watching this page for further developments ‘cos the ‘Show” is definitely still going on.

All the best….

    Hi Leo …
Been a fan since the mid-70`s (in South Africa) and had the incredible privilege and joy of seeing you live in Vancouver, Canada in the early 80`s. What a beautiful, fun night of great music and unforgettable energy! I ran up to the stage and you kissed my hand! Hope you`ll include some Canadian dates when you`re touring the U.S. in 2011. You still sound incredible and have that on-stage spunk like no other! All the best for Christmas, New Year and beyond. Wendy

Hi Leo! I just wanted to say a big “thank you” for your concert last night (27th Oct) at Crown. It was fantastic. An added bonus was that I even managed to get my severely autistic son to get up and dance with me during “You make me feel like dancing”!! It was a wonderful show and I am looking forward to watching the free dvd! Cheers, Janine

Just have to say THANK YOU for a fantastic trip back to my teenage years!! I was at the State Theatre on Sat 6th Nov and really rocked the night away! As a 15yo growing up in Cape Town (South Africa) I had an almighty crush on a certain Leo Sayer and never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that I would one day get to meet the MAN!! I am one very lucky woman…
Thank you = Peace = Love Always!

  15. Nicola says:

Can’t wait until the 40th anniversary concert on Saturday night in Sydney– “more than I can say”. You always “make me feel like dancing” and we will be “dancing the night away” with “long tall glasses” at the State Theatre. There is a “thunder in my heart” to hear you sing “Moonlighting” with your “one man band”. “How much love” – “I can’t stop loving you” and your music. Still “just a boy” and not “giving it all away” after 40 years – “the show must go on”. Congratulations Leo on a fantastic career.

Hi Chris, I hope you don’t mind, and I hope Leo doesn’t mind me answering your query. May I suggest you try looking at
http://www. amazon.co.uk and search for Leo Sayer in the DVD section, and in there I believe you’ll find a DVD Leo Sayer One Night In Sydney Live At The Basement available. The DVD is an excellent one, and features Leo’s classic hits ‘Giving It All Away’,
‘Thunder In My Heart’, ‘Moonlighting’ ,
‘More Than I Can Say’, ‘One Man Band’, and ‘When I Need You’, just to name a few. Sorry I can’t quote a price of its cost on Amazon, but its worth having a look. I wish you luck in finding a copy of this amazing DVD of Leo Sayer in concert. I believe it took place and was recorded in 2001 time. I hope this is of help. C

  22. Chris says:

Hi Leo, I attended your performance in Sun City (SA) in 2000. Can’t wait for your return. Why is it impossible to get a DVD of ANY of your concerts?

  23. Patrick Scargill says:

  29. C says:

I’ve heard about The Lanes in Brighton. And like the pic of you, in The Lanes as well, Leo. Also like the pic of where you say ‘this makes me feel like dancin’ again!…good, seem to know where that comes from. And, a year or two ago, requested a blue plaque to go on wall of the King’s Hotel, Hove, to commemorate the time when you were fire hero there in January 1967, but so far don’t think a plaque has been put on.

  30. Charlotte says:

Hi Leo, oh wow what a brilliant surprise early this morning it was when I clicked on your front note to find you’ve very kindly informed us you’ve added new photographs in your photograph section of your big trip to Europe. All very interesting and brilliant indeed! I love both the pics from the Once In A Lifetime shows and your travels across Europe. I see and love the pic of the one of you where it says ‘Me feel like dancin’ again…!’, good, reminds of the wonderful bobbing. And the pics of you with thumbs up and your camera, that also reminds me of a very special moment when it was thumbs up and the camera in Blackpool eleven years ago. I also like the pic of you in the lanes in Brighton. Thank you for updating your front note and for sharing the pics with us Leo, they’re all marvellous just like you are! Hope the UK’s also included in your European tour next summer. Be good if your new album,
Leo Sayer ‘The Greatest Hits’ will be available to buy online in your shop at Leo Sayer.com too.

  31. Charlotte says:

Hi Leo, someone on your messageboard asking about your finger snap in the song ‘When I Need You’, was it intentional. Would love to hear ‘When I Need You’ with you snapping your fingers in the song. I can recall the time when you snapped your fingers along Blackpool’s Golden Mile on 14/10/1999. Leo, you always bring joy and light into my life, thank you. Wish you Good luck with your forthcoming tours. Always brilliant to know the show is definitely still going on!

It was a great pleasure coming out to see you last month, and would be good to come out to see you in concert again. would also like you to have the photocopied articles about the time when you were fire hero at the King’s Hotel in 1967. i’ve still got them.
