This project was initially born out of some demos I made of songs I’d been working on since 2013. It also includes some material that was composed much earlier than that.
In March 2014 I was working with some awesome musicians on an Australian tour and I knew immediately I had the band for this album.
We all went into our bass player, Mitch Cairns’ studio to record the basic tracks in Melbourne, this was during June and July ‘14.
The recording went really smooth and fast and we ended up with sixteen songs, three of which are available only on the
bonus (iTunes) edition.
We had some wonderful singers and horn players overdubbing, got more engineers contributing on it too, and finally I recorded the vocals in my Sydney home studio.
I then took the mixes up to my great friend John Hudson up in Queensland where he weaved his magic on them.
Back in Sydney, Leon Xervis at 301 Studios came up with the excellent master, Kristian Dowling took some very stylish photos and Peter Barrett designed the album cover.
We released the album here in January 2015 on Fanfare Records, to a great reception, with the album hitting the Top 40 album chart in it’s first week of release.
Now the CD, an iTunes download, and a vinyl version, are being released in the UK this August on my own label Silverbird Records.
It was a fun album to make with some brilliantly talented people on board from start to finish.
I hope you enjoy the result, ‘cos I’m very, very proud of it!
